BERKEY PF-2 FLUORIDE AND ARSENIC REDUCTION FILTERS
PF-2 reduction elements are designed for use in conjunction with Black Berkey® water purification
elements to adsorb the following unwanted elements
found in drinking water.
- Arsenic V
- Pre-Oxidized Arsenic III
- Other Residual Heavy Metal Ions
HERE IS WHY YOU DON’T WANT ARSENIC, FLUORIDE IN YOUR DRINKING WATER
Where Arsenic Comes From:
EPA - Arsenic enters the water as a result of the erosion of natural depostits, runoff from orchards and glass and electronic production waste.
The Risk of Arsenic to Your health:
EPA - Arsenic can be responsible for damage or problems with the circulatory system and may cause increased risk of cancer.
Where Fluoride Comes From
EPA – Flouride enters water through the erosion of natural deposits, discharge from fertilizer and aluminum factories.
The Risk of Fluoride to Your Health
Flouride can be responsible for Bone disease, pain and tenderness of the bones, and mottled teeth in children
YOUR PF-2 FILTER WILL ELIMINATE MUCH OF THE RISK
The PF-2 is Effective
Installed on your Black Berkey Filters the PD-2 filter is effective at reducing your risk from these harmful elements
Fluoride Test Results - Testing for fluoride was based on 20-30ppm of the ion in the influent aqueous solution at a flow rate of no more than 3 gpm per cubic foot of media. Results of < 1ppm of the fluoride ion in the effluent were typical for the media (>95% reduction). Under optimum conditions, effluent concentrations of less than 50 ppb were readily achieved (>99.75% reduction).
ARSENIC Test Results - The PF-2 Filter uniquely targets the entire family of arsenic oxide anions as well as the arsenic cations.
The PD-2 is a Long-Lasting Solution
Under normal conditions it is recommended that each set of two PF-2 elements be replaced after 1,000 gallons
INSTALLATION AND REPLACEMENT
INSTALLATION - Installing the PF-2 filter is easy and requires no tools.
The Black Berkey filters should already be installed into the upper chamber of whichever Berkey unit you have.
Simply screw the filters onto the the bolt used to attach the Black Berkey filter element to the upper chamber.
They will hang down into the lower chamber.
REPLACEMENT - Under normal conditions it is recommended that each set of two PF-2 elements be replaced after 1,000 gallons.
Actual capacity is dependent on the
presence of other competing contaminants in the source water. High
levels of Fluoride, arsenic and heavy metals may reduce the capacity
and efficiency of the elements.
NOTES on the use of PD-2 filter:
- Do not boil this element.
- PF-2 elements reduce filtration flow from the Black Berkey filter rate by 15-20%.
- The media used in the PF-2 filter elements contains high-grade activated aluminum oxide, which currently is the most efficient media available for extracting fluoride from water.
- The PF-2 filter simply screws onto the mounting screw of your already installed Black Berkey Filter element. Use one on each Black Berkey filter element.
NOBODY ELSE IS TAKING CHARGE OF REDUCING THIS RISK - IT’S UP TO YOU
Here’s What We Suggest
Check with your local public health department to determine if Arsenic or Fluoride have been found in drinking water serving your community. If it has…
- Buy and install a PF-2 Filter on each Black Berkey element of your Berkey filter System.
